Brent's Breakfast Cereal  
  A Healthy Start to the Day!  

This cereal mixture combines three healthy cereal choices (100% whole wheat, oatmeal, and bran) and adds raisons (a good source of fibre and a natural sweetener), almonds (a source of healthy fats) and a bit of cinammon for a tasty alternative to boring commercially available unsweetened (or low sugar) cereals. I find it tasty enough - especially when topped with yogurt - to eat every morning.


Ingredients:
  • 1 package (3 biscuits) of Original Shredded Wheat (crushed)
  • 2 cups large flake oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups 100% Bran Cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups raw almonds (crushed in blender to powder and small pieces)
  • 3/4 cups raisons
  • 1 tbs cinammon powder
Also try adding:
  • 1/8 cup Ground Flax Seed
  • 1/8 cup Sunflower Seeds
  • Wheat Germ
  • Physillium Husk
  • Other Dried Fruit (Blueberries, Cranberries, etc.)
Directions:

Add all the ingredients together in a large zip-lock bag and mix well. Keep refrigerated (due to the fat in the almonds).

Serve 1/3 to 2/3 cups with skim milk and your favourite low-fat yogurt.
